About

I’m starting this blog as way of sharing my journey with the world, both in terms of my spiritual practices/processes and practical magic, as well as any information about interesting events along those lines in the Chequamegon Bay area.

I’ve been practicing magic and various spiritual practices for a while now, starting in middle school back at the tail end of the nineties, when I got into Buddhism and Sanskrit mantras, and so forth.  In college I met a few friends who were Wiccan and opened my eyes to a different world of spirituality I hadn’t encountered in person before. During my time at Northland, I also met a few liberal Quakers, members of the Religious Society of Friends, and attended quite a few ‘meetings for worship’ which I found to be worthwhile and enlightening. I don’t identify as Christian, although I generally find that I very much enjoy ‘non-standard’ Christianities.

I also majored in Native American Studies at a local liberal arts college, by the name of Northland College, and learned a lot from a couple of local Native elders, and of course a liberal education has its own merits aside from a specific field of study!

In this blog I will share whatever practices/thoughts/stories/poems/spells/etc I think might be helpful for others who are looking for information of that sort. If you have any questions or comments, I’m all ears. This is my first serious attempt at a blog, and my first try articulating for a bunch of strangers on the internets the specifics of my spiritual/magical practices and beliefs. I often keep my practices to myself, for various reasons, but I feel like I can share some things online that people might find of value, if only for entertainment value, watching my occasional failures!

One of my main goals with this blog is to share ‘local spirituality’, or magic/spiritual practices that might help people relate more meaningfully with the spirits of the land, the world we are all a part of is very big, but it starts right outside our front door. I feel like this sort of thinking is sorely lacking in a lot of contemporary paganism and really, all spiritual traditions whether Pagan or Buddhist or Christian, etc… could potentially be reinvigorated and enlivened by seeking to re-enchant the world in which we live.

I think that coming into a good relationship with the world around us, and considering how we can act in both magical and mundane and political ways to make the world better for future generations of humans and all living beings is the main way I can see to have a good influence on things.

I also would argue that one of our purposes in being here is to find ways to enjoy ourselves as much as possible. I don’t take that lightly, I think that we focus sometimes too much on ‘future generations’ and ‘making things better for our kids/etc’ but we shouldn’t ignore that WE are somebody else’s ‘future generations’ and we should enjoy and appreciate what we have, while we can. We should of course keep in mind the sacrifices and struggles that people went through to provide a better world for us, but we also should know just how much they wanted us to enjoy our lives, and we shouldn’t ignore that either, in my opinion.

My goal is to update this blog once a week, give or take. If you ever have a specific question or comment/feedback, etc. I’m all ears!

I hope you enjoy what you find here, thanks for stopping by! ❤
